Learn how to cook like a Croatian Baba!

Held in a well-equipped open air teaching kitchen in the old town of Split, just behind the Theater. Opportunities abound for absolute beginners, date nights, serious home cooks and anyone who aspires to take on Croatian culture’s cuisine. Come to our Cucina Mare to find your inner chef, make new friends, share delicious food and just plain have fun.

The mission is to offer our guests the beautiful experience of cooking with friends and learn more about Croatian culinary and culture. We aim to offer you a cooking experience which is informal and fun and where you will learn to make wonderful dishes together with Chef Ćiro and his team. We want to welcome you to our house as if it was your home and make you feel totally at ease whether you are travelling alone or coming with your spouse, family with kids or friends. Croatia is rich in high-quality products and has a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables; its cuisine is very diverse – so much more than ćevapčići and pizza. We want you to leave feeling you have learnt more than the dishes you made during the course.

We pride ourselves in having organic fruit gardens and use vegetables in season from our own plots in Sabljići, small village about 80 km from Spit. We also purchase products from authentic local producers and farmers for example ham, cheese, wine and olive oil. All our producers are as passionate as we are about the Croatian cuisine and making superb local products which you will get a chance to taste.

The whole Cucina Mare team is committed to making sure that your stay with us is unforgettable!

  • Cooking class participants actively play a part and then sit down for a mutual meal, enjoying the fruits of their labor, in the middle of the old city of Split
  • Classes generally last four hours and have an open end to enjoy the evening together.
  • Vegan & vegetarian options are available in every class
  • Previous knowledge is not required
  • Kids are welcome and get an extra cooking class
